Rick’s First Kawasaki KLR 650
I have been a motorcycle enthusiast my whole life, and getting Heather all geared up for motorcycling was a real treat for me, I enjoyed going to look at all the bikes, and the gear, what gear head wouldn’t, its our addiction!
After getting her all set up with her big bike (Kawasaki KLR 650), it was time for me to get mine, I have owned bikes of every CC and engine configuration, so what should I get….I am shopping online looking at a sweet Triumph Tiger in Ontario, dam that’s not far from the Pearson airport, I’ll be landing there in a few days, swing by pick it up and ride it back to New Brunswick, hmmm, maybe , yes,…no…..oh dam there is a beemer 1150…….drool. But wait, let’s look at this from a logical point of view, we own a KLR650 that ticks all the boxes, If I get a different bike that means a completely different size of tires, and carrying a second set of spares……. so she carries Kawasaki spares on her bike and all her other gear, and I do the same…seems odd to me.
Off I go in search of a KLR650 as well, didn’t take long, summer was winding down, and the bikes go for a “reduced” end of season price.
Not long I am reading an ad on my phone, on a 2002 Kawasaki KLR 650:
- doohickey done, AWESOME!
- Aluminum skid plate, AWESOME!!
- Jardine slip on exhaust, AWESOME!!!
So I keep reading the ad,
- 30k for miles, ah no big deal
- 14 tooth front sprocket ..
I have to go see this bike……txt message the seller….txt tag for the afternoon finally see the bike!
….its looking great…owner says “I can put a new battery in it tomorrow if you want, that will give you time to do all the transfer of ownership and pick it up after”…..hmmm wait a day or not, I wait…might as well get a new battery out of the deal. The following day he drops a new battery in it for me and I ride it home :).
Hot dam I bought another one!
