Soft Sided Luggage con’t
With every bike trip or even in a car, you always try to pack everything, oh I need this and this…..right….we all over pack, the first time at least.
Take a look at your items, make two stacks a must have and a want to have pile. Now look at it from this point of view, If you had to leave your house for an indefinite period of time and only had 3 minutes to pack a bag, what would you put in it?
Here is what I would grab, at least 2 pairs of pants, same for shirts, 4-5 pairs of underwear, same for socks a jacket or warm hoodie as I go out the door…that’s what I would take for any length trip. Some might disagree, but I have gone for trips in the three week at a time range and that’s all I took.
You decide what is the necessities for your trips, and pack accordingly… just keep in mind weight distribution and balance when loading your bike.
We use our hard cases to store our spare bike parts, tools, camp stove, camping supplies. As a extension to our hard cases, we picked up soft luggage for our personal belongings, something light, waterproof, and easy to carry.
And voila we found this round barrel style bag.
It ticks all the boxes, lightweight it has a dry liner and a shoulder strap it also comes with a Sissy bar/rack straps and reflective striping.
As a bonus it has two 25mm wide straps that buckle inside a little pocket for strapping the bag to another or more gear to it.
We use this Barrel Bag in conjunction with our backpack one for a nice tidy package, unhook it and go.
This bag is a great size for doing an over night’r, big enough for a change of clothes and the standard must have personal items.
On each end of the barrel bag is a zippered pocket, big enough to store wallet, cell phone, and other small items, I keep a couple of extra nylon straps in one end with the included dry liner, and keep the other end open for use when I need that little pocket for a knife, extra rope, caribeners or just small stuff that needs a place.
These little barrel bags can be a great addition to your motorcycle luggage system. They pack well, can be put just about anywhere, and are not too cumbersome to carry off the bike, all of which is good thumbs up!
When shopping for anything motorcycle related don’t feel that you need to stay with high priced branded motorcycle luggage, we find great gear in sometimes the oddest of places.
And like I keep saying, judge for yourself, if it will suit your specific needs.[phpzon keywords=”barrel bag” num=”2″ country=”US” trackingid=”stinsoadvent-20″ templatename=”default” paging=”true”]
We found this barrel bag in a store that sells jackets and designed fleece blankets, it was in the back corner of the store and as luck would have it the barrel bag was on sale as a clearance item…so a win win for us!
We have used this barrel bag on a few short trips and we like how easy it is to put on and off the bikes. We would recommend this bag to anyone as a handy barrel bag to take anywhere, even if you wanted to leave it packed as your emergency kit bag, wouldn’t be a bad idea hum. Currently mine is packed with my military grade rain gear.
