Rick’s Pannier Luggage
….More luggage options!!!! Part 2
And since I am on a roll updating the blog today, might as well share how I rigged my 2002 KLR 650 up with a lightweight, waterproof Pannier system, (again, not going to break the bank on this system). Like comparable cases and rack systems in the $5-800 range on the low/mid range price point of Pannier systems. This one will cost me around $150 Canadian, (and again gotta love surplus stores).
My Panniers are actually Military Night Vision Goggle Pelican cases, that I picked up for $25 each and I also picked up my steel for around $40-50. So very happy with my purchase, away I went to my workshop to let the sparks fly and the welder flash some bits together.
The top case rack is made to bolt through the stock rear rack and then bolts to the top mounts of the side cases supports, I think I might see if I can lift the bike with this rack… It is pretty rugged… note it makes the bike have a wide arse and you have to be mindful when going through narrow spots.
I already clipped a fallen birch tree, and not even a scratch…. I must say I am pleased with my system.
